Elbow Lake Campground

We hiked (or walked, rather) to the Elbow Lake Backcountry Campground yesterday. The lake (and the campground and picnic spots) is a mere 1.3 kilometres from the parking lot, making this an ideal “backcountry” picnic spot for those of us who don’t like to walk very far to get to the quote/unquote backcountry.

The 1.3 kilometres is largely uphill…in the “steep” sense of “uphill.” We were a little nervous, but the toddler did very well and walked most of the way. The lake is a beauty, too—making it a rewarding climb. There were a few people fishing—Mr P found a branch and pretended to fish as well—and we met two horseback riders on the way down.

We’ll probably resume talking about History soon. Lately, I’ve been busy with “history” from Monday to Friday: report writing and manuscript editing. Getting outdoors is a great corrective to feeling busy. Did everyone else see at…
